If it's positive / reactive
A reactive result means current hepatitis B infection. It needs confirmation and further tests (HBeAg, HBV DNA, LFT). If it stays positive for more than 6 months, the infection is chronic and needs follow-up with a specialist.
Good to know
Hepatitis B is preventable with a safe vaccine. If you are negative and unvaccinated, ask about vaccination. Household contacts of a positive person should be tested.
